In 2012, Airdrie grew by 2,556 people, raising the city’s population to 45,711.

That number is a 5.92 per cent increase from last year’s population of 43,155, according to the 2012 Airdrie census.

The number of dwellings increased from 16,180 to 17,174, a 6.82 per cent increase.
