Edmonton’s pact for a new NHL arena has a Calgary alderman and an iconic sports booster voicing frustration over the lack of any plan for a similar facility in the city.

But another alderman, Gord Lowe, said he and most of city council have no interest in diverting scarce capital dollars into a rink that would rival Edmonton’s planned $480 million arena that’s being funded by $140 million of that city’s money.
