Edmonton fraudster who repeatedly remortgaged his parents’ home handed two-year sentence

An Edmonton fraudster who repeatedly remortgaged his parents’ home by pretending to be his father for a total of more than $1 million was blasted by a judge Wednesday. Jose Guapo Jr., 44, was handed a two-year prison term and ordered to pay nearly $300,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to fraud over $5,000 and fraudulently personating a person with intent to gain advantage for themselves.
