Healthy economy equals healthy housing market

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. (CMHC) is projecting 12,400 new homes starts in the Calgary Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) in 2012 and if builders expect to hit that mark, new home starts will have to pick up the pace.

Figures released recently by CMHC show housing starts in October were trending at 11,767 units, a six-month moving average of the monthly seasonally adjusted annual rates (SAAR) of total housing starts.
