Here’s what you need to know if you’re buying a house from a private seller

My partner and I are currently looking for our next “forever” home after three house moves in the past 12 years. We’ve bought and sold before, but always through a real estate agent from the same firm. Now we’re looking in a new town where we don’t have much of a network yet. We are quite taken with a place that’s for sale privately, but my partner thinks there must be something wrong with it if it’s not being sold by an agent. The truth is, we don’t have any idea about how to buy a property without an agent holding our hands. Is there extra stuff we should know about?
