Plans to make the industry-heavy bedroom community of Clairmont into a self-sustaining community are one step closer to reality after County of Grande Prairie council passed second reading of the Clairmont Heights area structure plan on Monday.

The plan, which includes a downtown promenade and a mix of low, medium, and high density housing in the hamlet, includes development straddling the north side of Clairmont Lake.
