An iconic hotel in the city’s west end that holds a special place in the hearts of many residents has been bought by a group of local businessmen who plan to restore it to its past glory.

Lionel Robins, a partner in the ownership team which also own many local auto businesses together in Grande Prairie, said the hotel at 11201-100 Avenue, currently a Quality Inn, is home to many fond memories.

Robins joked that when he told people about taking over the Quality Inn, not too many people knew what he was talking about until he used its original name – the Golden Inn.
