Opinion: Can urban planners learn and evolve?

Believing that increased population density in communities leads to urban improvement is akin to the idea that putting more sardines in a can will improve their flavour … and thereby, incidentally, improve the quality of life of other sardines. Such a zombie belief system would be laughable, if it didn’t underscore a deep-seated resistance to reason in its progenitor.
