Resolution shot down

North Lethbridge residents may continue hearing gunfire for another decade or more. Despite police reports showing a bullet from the river valley gun range penetrated a northside home, city council turned down a recommendation that it be closed by 2016.

On a 6-3 vote, council rejected a resolution which would also have seen the Fish and Game Club range in Peenaquim Park have professional security officers on duty during operating hours until then. Councillor Faron Ellis also called for its immediate closure after any further incidents, until city council gives officials permission to open.
