As Premier Alison Redford begins consultations with her MLAs this week about Alberta’s mounting fiscal woes, one of her top officials says taxes must be looked at by the provincial government.

Some members of the government caucus, however, are calling for significant spending cuts in the upcoming budget as the Alberta government tries to avoid a gaping financial hole because of the spread between the price of bitumen and world oil prices.
