The first thing to understand about silver production is that only 35% of annual production comes from miners in the primary business of producing the metal and only 51% of it comes from miners in the primary business of producing gold and/or silver. Almost half (49%) of the world’s silver production comes as a byproduct of mining copper, lead, and zinc.
