In spite of the flowing Arab robes on display and the presence of a sheik’s wife, the ceremony last week in the desert nation of Qatar had much in common with any other University of Calgary convocation.

There were eager young grads, there were U of C dignitaries in academic garb and, of course, there were proud parents.
