A newly released study commissioned by the Oneida Indian Nation excludes and misrepresents the facts regarding the benefits of creating tax fairness for the Upstate casino industry (“Study: No benefit to ‘equalizing’ tax rates for Indian, non-Indian casinos,” March 2, 2020). Currently, Indian Nation casinos pay a tax rate of 25% on their primary revenue. That is, at a minimum, 10% less than any commercial casino.
