Total housing demand for Airdrie is on the upswing compared to the same time last year, says a federal agency.

The city north of Calgary has seen total housing construction starts “nearly double” from Jan. 1 to the end of August compared to the same period in 2011, says senior market analyst Richard Cho of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.
