Council gets crafty with bridge financing

Out of concern for inflation, last month the Bank of Canada raised its key interest rate to 0.75 per cent. The move impacted a local borrower, the Town of Cochrane, and council was faced with a decision over interest rate hedging with regards to the north arterial bridge. With a budget of $53.5 million, the town has agreed to fund 32 per cent of the project.
