EDMONTON – Edmonton wants to tap into the multibillion-dollar international trash business by setting up the first city-owned company to bid on projects in China.

Waste Re-Solutions Edmonton is creating a joint venture with Beijing-based Canfit Resource Recovery Technologies in hopes of running the waste management system for Beijing’s ETOWN industrial suburb, Mayor Stephen Mandel said Tuesday.
