Environmental and safety concerns heard on proposed Acheson ASP

Parkland County held a public hearing on Nov. 6 to allow residents and stakeholders to voice their opinion regarding the proposed updates to the Acheson Industrial Area Structure Plan (ASP). The current ASP is over 15 years old and updates are required because development levels have far surpassed previous expected growth rates for Acheson, which is one of the fastest growing industrial parks in Alberta. Other factors that called for a new ASP include the Capital Region Growth Plan and its regulations that the County is obliged to comply with; the future transportation network for Acheson; new and up to date water and sanitary servicing required; land uses and development staging expansions reflective of current industrial development patterns; and the extension of the ASP boundaries extending to the City of Spruce Grove’s eastern boundary and to Edmonton city limits.
