Fed minutes could clarify mixed rate hike messages

An interest rate hike at the Federal Reserve’s June meeting seemed all but certain until St. Louis Fed chief James Bullard on Friday suggested the central bank’s rate increase timetable may be “overly aggressive.” Minutes of the Fed’s May 2-3 meeting, out this week, could clarify Fed officials’ conflicting messages. Economic reports this week will also highlight new and existing home sales, business investment and a revised estimate of economic growth in the first quarter.
