New slogan luring global workers to Be Part of the Energy in city, officials say

CALGARY – It may not have the cache of “I (heart) New York” but officials say that a new tourism and economic development slogan is attracting visitors and workers to Calgary.

The tag line, “Be Part of the Energy”, replaced the catchphrase “Heart of the New West” last year after the city decided to retire it.

In 2008, a consultant found the previous slogan wasn’t effective. Some critics also complained the western theme reflected only one aspect of Calgary.
