Increasing farmland was one of four recommendations given in the report, pointing to a decrease of 22.2 per cent of farm land between 1996 and 2016, a large increase in farm income and a rebound in numbers of young farmers. This was also put forward with a recommended investment in irrigation to maximize the production on local farmland.
