Maryland and the surrounding areas of Virginia and D.C. have some of the highest mortgage interest deductions in the country, even beating markets like the retiree-haven of Hawaii and the New York-commuter state of Connecticut. Another three states at the top of the list are on the East Coast but there’s a sprinkling of every part of the country rounding out the top ten.
