White: Is Calgary a walled city? (Calgary)

As I walk, cycle and drive around Calgary, it seems more and more like I live in a walled city. Perhaps it is because I live near Crowchild Trail, which has noise barriers pretty much from one end to the other, designed to protect the residents from traffic noise. FYI: I live just nine houses from the Crowchild Wall.
