Mortgage borrowing hits record level in Canada

Mortgage borrowing in Canada reached record highs in 2020, with households adding nearly $108 billion in mortgage debt, compared with less than two-thirds of that amount in 2019 and just under $46 billion in 2018, says Statistics Canada in a report released on Wednesday.

Canadian annual inflation rate 1%

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose in Canada at a faster pace in January (+1.0 per cent) year over year than in December (+0.7 per cent), according to a report released Wednesday by Statistics Canada.
