Imperial quadruples Q2 earnings to $1.2B

CALGARY — A $478-million gain from the sale of conventional assets and better downstream results helped Imperial Oil Ltd. quadruple net earnings in the second quarter compared with the same period last year.

Town likely to annex more land

In a decision that was made at the July 21 town council meeting, council voted on converting 50 acres of land southeast of High River from agricultural transition to future annexed area, but not everybody is excited about the potential expansion of High River.
