‘Slaughtered for raw consumption’: Why is Edmonton a horse-meat hub?

Over the past decade, thousands of horses have been placed in crates and shipped out of Edmonton International Airport. Their final destination is Japan, where they are slaughtered. Their meat is mainly used in high-end dishes, the stuff of culinary blogs and Instagram posts.

Home loan rates dip below 5% as CPI falls

Police Credit Union made a bold move last week, slashing its owner-occupier variable rate to just 4.99% for borrowers with a 20% deposit – the first time since mid-2022 that any advertised variable rate has dipped into the 4s, according to Canstar.com.au data.

Bank of Canada holds rate at 2.75%, but leaves door open for further rate relief
