Planned Fort McMurray arts centre a priority for ACWB despite funding shortfall

Tariffs, inflation and problems in the global supply chain have pushed the cost of the planned Arts Inc. centre in downtown Fort McMurray to roughly $17 million to $18 million. The project now faces a funding shortfall of $12.4 million.

Canada’s Trans Mountain eyes future growth in pipeline capacity

The operator of the Trans Mountain oil pipeline may launch a process this year to formally gauge commercial interest in the first of a series of potential projects to increase the system’s capacity, CEO Mark Maki said on Wednesday.

Alberta well positioned to weather deficits — for now: Conference Board

Alberta remains in a strong position, despite a projected 2.5 per cent drop in revenues this year, according to Provincial Fiscal Outlook, a new report released July 29 by The Conference Board of Canada.

Australia’s job mobility falls again as workers stay put

Job mobility in Australia has continued to ease into 2025, with just under 8% of employed people changing jobs in the year to February – down from 8.0% in 2024 and well below the 9.6% peak seen in February 2023, according to the latest ABS figures.

Inflation expectations lift as petrol prices rebound

ANZ-Roy Morgan inflation expectations rose to 4.9% in the week ending July 27, up slightly from June’s monthly average of 4.8%. While down from the early July peak of 5%, the latest figure reflects persistent cost-of-living concerns.
