Council unanimously approved the Infrastructure Off-Site Levy Bylaw Amendment by updating levy rates for transportation, water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.

Airdrie city council passes bylaw setting new off-site levy rates

Airdrie council has approved Bylaw B-23/2025, overhauling the fees developers pay to fund major road, water and sewer infrastructure. The new levy rates—updated for the first time in eight years—take effect Sept. 1 and follow a two-year technical review.

Airdrie apartment rents shift more than any other Alberta city

Airdrie recorded the largest year-over-year apartment rent decline in Alberta last month, according to the June 2025 Rentals.ca Rent Report.

City council votes to update waterworks bylaw

Airdrie City Council has voted to update the City’s Waterworks Bylaw during their June 3 meeting. The goal of the update is to give residents flexibility as they water lawns, gardens and new plants while staying in line with regional water schedules.

Construction of Airdrie’s K-9 school in South Windsong to begin

Construction of the first of the new schools approved for Rocky View Schools (RVS) is expected to begin this spring, adding valuable student spaces in Airdrie’s southwest.

Split council backs master site plan for future Southwest Rec Centre

Airdrie council has endorsed a site master plan layout and amenity footprint for the city’s future Southwest Recreation Centre, selecting Option One in a 4–3 vote that was briefly thrown into confusion after a councillor reversed his position post-declaration.

New Airdrie K–9 school breaks ground this spring, opens fall 2027

Construction of a new Kindergarten to Grade 9 school in Airdrie’s South Windsong neighbourhood is expected to begin this spring, with an opening planned for fall 2027.
