Construction is well underway on the first wind power project to undergo an interim “viewscape” analysis laid out by the provincial government, but the developer has applied to relocate two towers that were nixed in the original approval.

$750M Suffield research lab moved to design phase

The largest single federal investment in history of southeast Alberta could be underway in 2027 as the Department of National Defence plans a new $750-million laboratory facility at the Suffield defence research centre.

Council wants to speed up critical repairs while being more transparent when money moves around

City council has approved a new plan to not only speed up repair work on”critical components” of the city’s electric generating plant, but also for increased general reporting requirements when project budgets change.

AUC won’t consider local opposition to buy Saamis Solar

The city’s planned purchase of the Saamis Solar Park will not be subject to a public hearing, according to the Alberta Utilities Commission, which ruled two opposition groups in Medicine Hat have failed to prove their case that it would directly affect them.

City applies again to add more power, says potential business demands it

City officials say they are working with several companies whose combined needs could expand power use by more than 20 per cent, which would strain the entire Medicine Hat power grid.

Province to work with city to move homeless shelter out of residential neighbourhood

A joint statement released by the province and City of Medicine Hat on Friday states that the city’s two current Mustard Seed locations are “not ideal” homeless shelters and will collectively search for a new permanent location.
