Utility customers now finished paying province back

The power price in Medicine Hat will remain at a floor price of 7 cents per kilowatt hour in January but still decrease, as a charge to recover provincial deferral program costs from 2023 are eliminated.

Local power rates to rise, price formula to be reviewed

Power rates will change today for the next three months in Medicine Hat, but the formula used to determine the local electricity price will remain unchanged until city council and power plant staff further review a late-year business review.

Brooks residents concerned with proposed solar power plant

One hundred Brooks residents have registered to oppose the construction of a solar power plant on the west side of that city, though regulators have already dismissed one-third of applications for full standing as they don’t live close enough to the proposed site.

$8 million in overruns on water treatment plant not good but better than others due to COVID-19

More than $8 million in budget overruns does not sound like a success story, according to a consultant hired to review the city’s management of the new water treatment plant, but Medicine Hat has fared better than similar projects hit with high inflation after the pandemic.

Ottawa eases up on net-zero rules, buying the City of Medicine Hat crucial time

Newly finalized clean electricity rules from Ottawa would extend the potential lifespan of Medicine Hat’s newest gas-generating turbines, but would still require the entire facility to reduce carbon intensity by three-quarters by 2035, city power officials said Wednesday.
