Council passes budget with 5.6% tax hike, again citing low revenue and need to retain services

Ho ho hold the budget, Coun. Andy McGrogan requested Monday, so city hall managers can somehow find another $3 million in cost reductions to lessen a proposed 5.6 per cent tax increase next year.

Gas City needs more gas: officials

The City of Medicine Hat could be hampered in a quest to lure artificial intelligence hubs by limited natural gas supply, city energy officials told the News, as well as the scope of projects that would dwarf the city’s current electrical plant.

Brooks residents will see property taxes increase by 5.6% in 2025

Brooks city council was presented with a final budget Thursday night that recommends a 5.6 per cent tax increase in 2025.

ATCO says Granlea wind farm upgrades added 20MW to capacity

ATCO has announced that upgrades to its Granlea wind farm in the County of Forty Mile have resulted in a 10 per cent increase of power.

Number of cuts made to final budget draft

The huts are cut, as is funding to help finance larger electrical hook-ups for homes and some pro-redevelopment measures, on a new list of capital projects cut from the proposed 2025-26 city budget that council will debate and finalize next week.

Energy firm boasts capital accomplishments, including wells in southeast Alberta

Hemisphere Energy says it has completed a $9.9-million capital plan in the third quarter that included eight new wells in the Buffalo-Atlee area of southeast Alberta.

Biodiesel announcement expected for Wheatland County, chosen over originally proposed Cypress County
