Provincial power pricing formula will change Jan. 1

The province will move to one-rate, two-year default power pricing on Jan. 1 – an issue that drove the City of Medicine Hat to bring in lower interim pricing last year.

City of Medicine Hat revenue hits keep 5.6% tax hikes on table

A final proposed city budget includes 5.6 per cent property tax increases in each of the next two years, as budget officials say extra revenue is needed and cuts to an original proposal only make up for a financial picture that has worsened since last winter.

Housing workers in Taber among new labour deals signed this fall

Unionized public housing workers in Taber have agreed to an 8.5 per cent wage increase over the next three years, according to a summary of collective bargaining agreements released by Alberta Jobs ministry for the early fall.

The City of Medicine Hat has won a key regulatory point in its pursuit to buy the Saamis Solar Park project, but is now facing a potential legal challenge on the larger application to take over the renewable energy project inside city limits.
