City’s portfolio completely divested from AIMCo. as of 2023

The City of Medicine Hat has no position in AIMCo – the province’s investment wing that is in the midst of restructuring – after moving treasury management in house at city hall last year and contracting it to a number of private-sector investment houses.

Power grid inter-tie for Alberta, Saskatchewan could be out of commission for several months

The inter-tie connecting power grids of Alberta and Saskatchewan near Empress gas plant complexes could be down until May, the owner of the McNeill Converter Station has told the Alberta Electrical System Operator.

City looks to pivot as low-growth projections come in

Medicine Hat will see slower than average population growth compared to the rest of Alberta for the foreseeable future, which administrators say could necessitate a shift for the city’s land office, potentially switching it from bringing new land to market to readying redevelopment projects for the private sector.
