City’s utility pricing, fees well below average

In a report released Thursday, the city says its residential electricity and natural gas customers have paid on average $688 less than customers in other Alberta cities in 2025.

County of Newell carbon monitoring pilot project receives $3.8 million

The government has announced it will provide Carbon Management Canada with $3.8 million to test a new system designed for monitoring, measurement and verification of carbon dioxide geological storage.

First Street section closed throughout August for water main installation

City crews will begin the installation of a new water main Tuesday that will cause a small section on First Street SW to temporarily close until the end of August.

Natural Gas rate drops as utility rates set for August

The August natural gas default rate is down more than 50 per cent from last month, set at $0.624 GJ, down from $1.238 GJ in July.

Funding available for downtown businesses looking to update their space

In August, Medicine Hat’s downtown businesses with plans to spruce up their commercial spaces can apply for a maximum of $30,000 in funding and internet free loans through the City Centre Vibrancy Program.

Solar project aligns with Cancarb’s emissions goal

A local manufacturer has announced it will move forward with a 7,000-panel solar project that will generate self-supplied electricity fed directly into its plant utility load.
