The strip of beach provincially owned for many years now belongs to the Town of Sylvan Lake. The Government of Alberta approved the transfer of the park to the Town Jan. 17 for a dollar. Included in the transfer is a one-time funding allocation of $1.96 million from the Province to the Town to be used for park improvements and ongoing upkeep.

The Sylvan Lake Quiet Enjoyment Initiative (QEI) recently approached Council to ask for their cooperation and help to reduce noise pollution on the lake.

Changes are being planned for the next season paid parking in Sylvan Lake. After what is considered to be a successful opening season of the program, the Town of Sylvan Lake asked for feed back from the public on what they liked and didn’t like.

Town Council passed a bylaw Jan. 8 which would see the restructuring of the community service fees. Specifically the bylaw targets user fees or rental fees for a number of programs and facilities within the Town.

A concern was brought to Council about a stretch or road in Lakeshore Drive, from Marina Bay to 60 Street. The concern raised by a resident was about lack of lighting and signage for a curve in the road.
