West Hillhurst residents fighting proposed cellphone tower

Residents of West Hillhurst are fighting a proposed 25-metre cellphone tower, arguing it’s not appropriate in a residential neighbourhood and that the company, Telus, isn’t open to other options.

“I think they’re (Telus) kind of selective in indicating where their radius of best capacity or coverage areas are,” said Jo Larson, a resident who lives close to the Kensington Legion, the proposed site of the tower.

Science centre $285 M expansion worries neighbours

EDMONTON – Telus World of Science wants to double its size in a $285-million expansion, but community members worry they’ll pay the price in lost green space.

The science centre has been working since 2008 on a plan that now calls for adding 10,800 square metres on two levels, twice the current space, as well as boosting its 337 parking spaces by 50 per cent.
