Cost of projects on the rise

In an update provided to town council on Apr. 25, financial services projected the town would be spending $249 million between 2016 and 2025 on the capital projects listed in the 10-Year Financial Strategy, an increase of $19 million from projections made last year.

Growth could mean 0% tax increase

In advance of the spring budget adjustments being done next month, senior manager of Corporate Services Paige Milner presented a report on assessment growth and property taxes that included a recommendation that the 2016 net cost of operations be increased by $165,000.

Amendments to the Spitzee Crossing ASP

Amendments to the Spitzee Crossing Area Structure Plan came to this week’s public hearing before High River Town Council. Planning consultant for the land owners Kristi Beunder says the changes made were mainly from high to low density, based on feedback from the community and MD of Foothills.

Hampton Hills Phase 3 Extension Denied

High River Town Council has defeated Lansdowne Equity Ventures’ request for an extension for the Hampton Hills Phase 3 Subdivision. Lansdowne’s deadline to submit a plan of subdivision expired in October 2014, and Director of Engineering, Planning and Operations Riley McKerracher says now they’ll need to submit a new application.
