Loonie tops 80 cents for first time since 2018 as commodities rise

The Canadian dollar broke above 80 cents U.S. Thursday, hitting its highest level since February 2018 amid speculation the global reflation trade will continue to lift commodity prices, driving currencies traditionally tied to the commodities complex higher.

County MPC approves small business development permits

Unpaid municipal property taxes from oil companies jumps to $24.6 million

Oil companies owe more than $24.6 million in unpaid taxes to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo as of Feb. 22. This is an increase from nearly $19 million owed to the municipality last January.

Only four properties on city’s back-tax auction, with collection efforts dating back to 2017
