Despite a modest drop in the Red Deer region’s unemployment rate from 10.4 per cent in November to 9.6 per cent in December, officials with the Chamber of Commerce, however, say it’s more important to note a big drop in the number of people working in the area.

Building permit values up in December

Building permit applications increased in quantity and value in December. Total permit values in 2020 were higher than the previous year, rising from $118.9 million from January to December 2019 to $260.9 million during the same period in 2020.
