History was made on Monday as Grande Prairie City Counsel selected colleague Jackie Clayton as interim mayor until October, replacing former mayor Bill Given.

Town to extend temporary outdoor patio and retail space pilot project

The Town of Peace River council members were presented with a request for decision regarding the boulevard tree policy. Council had also received a briefing note regarding expanding the temporary outdoor patio and retail space pilot project into 2021.

Council approves voluntary buyouts in Ptarmigan Court, backwater program

The municipality will offer voluntary buyouts to Ptarmigan Court residents, continue flood mitigation in Waterways, and offer funding for flood-proofing solutions to Draper residents on a case-by-case basis.

Town council receives letter about Pat’s Creek flooding

During the Town of Peace River Governance and Priorities meeting that took place on Dec. 7,  council received a letter from a community member regarding flooding from Pat’s Creek.

Peace River Regional Airport transferred to new ownership

On Dec. 7, the Town of Peace River finalized the transfer of the Peace River Regional Airport to the Peace River Regional Airport Association. This not-for-profit will take over ownership officially on Dec. 15. The airport will be operated by people local to the Peace River Region.

Council writes letter in support of rural bus lines

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, the Town of Peace River council members continue to offer their meetings electronically. In respect of this, the Nov. 23 meeting did not have space for members of the public to attend but were able to view and listen in on a link provided on the Town of Peace River’s website.

Alberta opens new bridge in Peace River
