The Grandin neighbourhood will be officially be renamed The Gardens after an hours-long public hearing and debate held in City council chambers Tuesday (March 18).

The Naming Committee will recommend that St. Albert city council remove the Grandin name from municipal assets during the March 18 council meeting, and documents within the agenda reveals the potential names it could be replaced with, should council vote to change it.

Chérot school site topic for upcoming council meeting

The St. Albert Public School Board is one step closer to one of their goals of having a K-9 school for the Chérot neighbourhood, following a notice a motion brought forward by Coun. Sheena Hughes to debate redesignating the site from a high school to a school at an upcoming council meeting.

St. Albert Mayor Cathy Heron said one of the more frustrating parts of the Alberta budget this year for municipal officials is the province’s increase to the Education Property Tax (EPT) rate.
