Alberta exports to jump 12% in 2013: EDC

CALGARY — Export Development Canada’s forecast for Alberta’s export growth calls for a substantial gain of 12 per cent in 2013 after recording a seven per cent gain this year.

“Alberta exports will be firing on all cylinders in 2013,” said Peter Hall, chief economist at EDC. “Crude oil, most agricultural commodities and a number of industrial goods will post gains next year, driving Alberta’s total exports to over $100 billion.”

Edmonton homeowners face $98 tax hike in 2013

The average Edmonton homeowner is looking at a $98 tax hike next year under the proposed city budget released Thursday.

Solid economic growth forecast for Alberta into 2013

CALGARY-Alberta’s economy continues to lead the pack across a range of indicators and solid growth will persist in 2013, supported by robust oilsands investment, says Scotiabank’s Global Forecast.

The bank is forecasting the province will lead Canadian economic growth with 3.4 per cent this year followed by 3.0 per cent in 2013.
