Long-awaited cancer clinic to be built at Foothills Medical Centre: sources

Premier Alison Redford will announce a long-awaited new Calgary cancer clinic at a news conference Friday morning, government sources say.

The clinic will be on the site of the Foothills Medical Centre. It’s to be a multi-year project with planning to begin soon. Funds for the planning stage could be in the March 7 budget.

Pressure grows for new Calgary cancer centre

CALGARY – The Alberta Cancer Foundation is turning up the heat on the province to build to a new cancer centre in Calgary, saying the urgent need for more treatment space means the project can no longer be put off.

The foundation, which primarily focuses on fundraising for cancer research, is now adding its voice to the push for new a building to replace the aging, overcrowded Tom Baker Cancer Centre.

Premier Commits $20 Million More to Hospital Project

Total price tag for the expansion is up to $220 million

Alberta Premier Alison Redford was in the Gas City on Thursday morning to announce that an additional $20 million has been added to the original budget of $200 million for the expansion of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
