Emerald Sky stormy as project is delayed

The Emerald Sky condo project in Kincora has been put on hold, affecting more than 250 families and the developer is blaming city planners.

In a letter sent to buyers obtained by the Sun, Randy Klapstein, CEO of the Carlisle Group, wrote: “It became apparent very early in our meetings with the Planning Department that they were going to insist on exercising a great deal of discretionary control over the development of this site. During our discussions they presented a number of ideas that they had and instead of debating at length over these issues, we simply conceded to many of them, rather than suffer additional delays.”

Local condo prices sink

Royal LePage’s third quarter House Pricing Survey results are in, and while Fort McMurray saw a slight increase in the price of two-storey homes, condo prices evened the playing field by taking a sizable dip.

Year-over-year results show average two-storey home prices have increased by 1.4% to $730,000, detached bungalow prices have decreased by 1.8% to $625,000, and standard condominium prices plummeted 7.9% to $350,000.
