Oil and Gas Projects Face Labor Shortage

The surge in oil and gas production in recent years is fueling a revival of U.S. manufacturing. But, according to Ryan Holeywell over at Fuel Fix, the big industrial projects on the planning board for the Gulf Coast are suffering from a shortage of skilled labor.

The U.S. economy is headed for stronger growth in 2014 that will steadily chip away at the unemployment rate, top economists predict in a largely optimistic USA TODAY quarterly survey.

Alberta creates nearly half of all new Canadian jobs over the past year

CALGARY – Although employment was virtually unchanged in January in Alberta, the province showed a year-over-year hike of nearly 70,000 positions – accounting for close to half of the national gain.

Walmart Canada says expansion plans will create 7,500 jobs

CALGARY – Walmart Canada announced Tuesday it will invest close to $500 million for supercentre, distribution network, and e-commerce projects across the country, creating more than 7,500 new jobs, including construction positions.
