Portion of Edmonton’s 96th Street to be renamed Church Street
EDMONTON – The city is moving ahead this year to promote “Church Street” as a special downtown character area.
The district along 96th Street from 106th Avenue to 111th Avenue is home to 11 churches and other religious buildings, with another two less than a block away, according to a city report.

Naming committee opposes Cityscape as misleading for new development
CALGARY — Even for a city where people live in places like Coral Springs, Diamond Cove and the Hamptons, one developer may have pushed too far with plans to call a northeast community Cityscape.
Mattamy Homes chose the name in part because of its vista of the downtown and mountains — but it’s from a perch that, as the crow flies, is about as far from the core as Chestermere.
