Rental properties at a premium in Okotoks

Finding affordable rental housing in Okotoks is increasingly difficult as vacancies are rare and rents are climbing.

Okotoks resident Lorraine Knelsen felt the impact first hand when she was recently told the rent on her one-bedroom apartment in town was going to rise by $300 per month.

Once the rent increase takes effect in January, it will bring her monthly rent to $1,150 for the apartment in a small building near the edge of the river valley on the town’s north side.

City selling off seven natural gas properties

The City of Medicine Hat has put seven natural gas producing properties — representing about 10 per cent of its reserves — up for sale.

The Energy Division engaged Sayer Energy Advisors to market the “non-core” assets in a proposal first advertised on Sept. 18. The deadline for offers is Oct. 10 at noon.
