Municipality issues RFPs to create downtown visuals

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has issued two Requests for Proposals for work outlined in the City Centre Area Redevelopment Plan.

The first RFP seeks to employ the services of a highly creative and experienced firm to conceive and produce the McMurray Experience, an engaging and compelling multimedia and marketing environment combining video, lighting, architecture, sound and special effects to convey the vision and ongoing progress of the City Centre.

Lack of business owner involvement in redevelopment planning questioned

During their regular meeting Mar. 25, Sylvan Lake councillors:

• discussed a recent focus session on the 50th Street Design Development and Area G Master Plan projects.

While the CAO’s report stated turnout was limited (13), Councillor Laverne Asselstine said when councillors and town staff were excluded there were only a couple of people.

Former Cam Clark Ford site redesignated

Council approved a redesignation application for the former Cam Clark Ford site to allow a potential expansion by Propak Systems Ltd, April 2.

The 22-acre parcel, located at 925 Veterans Boulevard NE, is currently owned by Rocky View School Division. However, the application was made on behalf of Propak Systems Ltd., one of Airdrie’s largest employers.

New office tower to rise over Eau Claire district

CALGARY — One of Calgary’s fastest-growing thermal oilsands producers will be the lead tenant in a new 25-storey office tower announced Thursday by Oxford Properties Group.

The 600,000-square-foot Eau Claire Tower is to rise over downtown Calgary and be connected to two existing Oxford towers with 11 of its floors occupied by MEG Energy Corp.
