Foreclosure activity reaches 6-year low

Foreclosure activity in April fell to its lowest level in 74 months, but action is ramping up in some states, says a national foreclosure tracker.

In April, one of every 905 U.S. housing units received a foreclosure filing, market watcher RealtyTrac says. That was the lowest level since February 2007 — near the beginning of the nation’s foreclosure crisis — and down 23% from a year ago.

Lakefront revitalization eyed in Sylvan Lake

Owners of businesses and commercial property are being asked to help develop a revitalization strategy for downtown Sylvan Lake.

Many were recently surveyed about their needs, and ideas for boosting retail activity along the lakefront, and they are being encouraged to participate in a Nov. 20 workshop where the survey responses will be reviewed and a plan formulated.  READ

Calgary house prices flirting with 2007 peak level

CALGARY—Calgary’s resale housing market in October is continuing to show very strong year-over-year sales growth with average prices competing with the peak level of 2007.

According to the Calgary Real Estate Board, month-to-date until October 30, total MLS transactions in the city of 1,603 are up 23.88 per cent from the same period a year ago and the average sale price has risen by 7.22 per cent to $435,922.
