Deconstruction of CPR bridge underway

Deconstruction of the iconic Canadian Pacific Rail Bridge on Centre Street, a landmark in High River for over 120 years, began on Tuesday of this week to prevent future flooding in the town.

TCH bridge to be open to traffic as close to Dec. 2 as possible

With the completion deadline fast approaching for the Trans-Canada bridge project, Alberta Transportation says it will be a matter of days rather than weeks from the time the bridge is ready for inspection to the time it’s open for traffic.

Iconic High River bridge to be dismantled for flood prevention

HIGH RIVER, Alta – Although its steel frame is the landmark most often associated with High River, officials say the town’s iconic Canadian Pacific Railway bridge will be dismantled to prevent future flooding.

Edmonton permits soar as new bridge looms

City of Edmonton building permit values increased about 40 per cent for the first five months of 2013, hitting $1.90 billion. That figure is also up 67 per cent compared to the city’s five-year average for the same period.

No new bridge in three year plan

Another collision on Hwy 15 kept the lone bridged entrance to the city down last week.

Just days after a committee was formed to help bring another bridge to the city, commuters were brought to a crawl as they tried to get over the river.

Steps taken toward new bridge

By spring 2014, detailed design plans are expected to be complete for a new bridge in Peace River.

Alan Saunders, engineer and bridge manager for the Peace Region with Alberta Transportation, made a slideshow presentation to the Rotary Club of Peace River last Tuesday (July 23), which detailed preliminary plans.

Edmonton councillors approve $24M Terwillegar footbridge
