Retail complex breaks ground in morley

The Morley townsite, west of Cochrane, has remained exactly the same for years.

But all that is about to change.

On Oct. 19 the Bearspaw band, one of three that comprise the Stoney Nakoda Nation, celebrated the fact they’re about to build a new retail complex next to the youth centre, opposite the Stoney band office.

County takes step toward construction of complex

After extensive debate and weighing of options, Rocky View council voted 5-4 to apply for $32 million in provincial funding for the construction of a new office building at the County’s municipal campus, Sept. 25.

Councillor Paul McLean, who motioned council apply for Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) funding, said the office will be of benefit to the County.

Ground breaking ceremony for field house set for Friday

After getting final approval at the previous Council session, Town representatives will officially launch construction of the new field house addition to the Bob Snodgrass Recreational Complex with a ceremonial sod turning ceremony on Friday.

Mayor Emile Blokland and chairperson of the regional Recreation Board Cindy Donnelly will be in attendance alongside Coun. Jamie Kinghorn, who will be emceeing the event.
